Why You Might Fail at Network Marketing
Depending on whose statistics you believe, between 90 and 98% of all network marketers fail. How can you avoid being just another statistic, and succeed in your business? It’s obvious that the network marketing is based on the sound principles of multiplication and leverage. You’ve seen the business plans, and the charts and graphs, and you know this business can work. But, can you work it?
See if you recognize anyone in these examples. (Please note: The names have been changed to protect the guilty!)
Suzie Smart was introduced to a new business opportunity. She instantly saw the potential of making a lot of money, and building a residual income that she could enjoy for years to come. After all, Suzie is smart – but, perhaps a bit too smart. Suzie begins searching the internet for anything and everything she can find on network marketing. She asks her upline for information. She signs up for the monthly newsletter and motivational pack. She takes a class down at the community college. She subscribes to several industry magazines. She devours every motivational book, tape, CD, and DVD she can get her hands on.
Timothy Timid was introduced to a great money making business. His friend kept calling him, emailing him, dropping by his house, and taking him to various business meetings, but Timothy finally signed up because his friend convinced him this was the opportunity of a lifetime. Timothy really wants to find a way of making money, because he doesn’t like his job very much. He doesn’t really get along with his co-workers. In fact, he’d rather stay home than deal with people. So, the idea of making money over the internet really appeals to him.
Barbara Busy took time out of her hectic schedule to hear about an exciting new opportunity to make tons of money fast. It sounded like a great idea to her – especially the fast part. Her sponsor told her she could make a fortune in just 2 hours a week and Barbara figured she could probably squeeze 2 hours a week out of her schedule – maybe on Sunday night between church and homework, or between homework and bedtime. Maybe she could just put on a pot of coffee and stay up a little later…
Luke Lazy heard about this great new business on the internet that was so easy, even a bum could make a fortune in 30 days! The best part about it is, his sponsor even said the whole thing would work on auto-pilot. The company would set up his website and build his downline, and all he would have to do is kick back and watch the dollars poor into his bank account.
Tina Tomorrow joined a wonderful new business. It took awhile. Her sponsor had to call her and invite her several times, and each time Tina would say, “Maybe tomorrow.” But, she finally signed up. Now her sponsor keeps asking her if she’s made her list yet. “Not today. I had a bad day at the office, my kid got in trouble at school, my car had a flat, and the plumbing went out at home… maybe tomorrow.”
Have you found the number one reason people fail at networking marketing yet? They don’t take action. Maybe they spend all of their time learning instead of doing. Maybe they don’t take action out of fear of rejection or failure. Maybe they don’t take action because they simply don’t have the time. Maybe they don’t take action because they are lazy and want you to do all of the work for them. Maybe they don’t take action because they simply put things off, even though they have the best of intentions to do something today.
So, what’s the best way to combat this problem? Stay tuned… I’ll have the answer in my next article.
